Hi everyone. I just installed a Rfx75 on a cobra 29 lx. This is my first RFX. I've done a lot of effect pedal and tube guitar amps but I'm still pretty clueless with radio. I'm 90% sure i fried the erf7530 because the diode insidethe Mosfet is continuous both directions. I'm going to attempt to post several detailed pics to see if any one can possibly catch amistake but I'm pretty sure i blew it while attempting to setup swr with a poor power supply. Sorry if My typing is off I'm on acell phone. Thanks in advance!

The mods i did were,
1. Remove 1 turn from output slug and attach 68pf cap to gnd on (solder side) left side.
2. Replace the 1000uf with 330ilectrolytic cap in audio section.
3. Remove j36 and sub in 1000uf cap with 33r resistor on the bottom side.

I would also like to do a low pass filter on the output but ican't seek to find any info on this..

Please understand that this is ALL about the ride for me..I'd rather blow up ten radioss and understand why than send it off.. i already have one of those :) i already have a set of transistors on the way.

Sorry for all the post. I'm just trying t to give you all the info i can. I checked all the joints. In the pics a couple look sketchy like the power wire. And a couple other but i promise all of that is ok.

r55 is charred with white film over it and black mark on the top of the radio.. i know i will need to repair that. But could that happen as the result in a blown final?

Naw, not the whack pack. This is a heat sink+ dual mosfet final replacement. It's nothing incredible i just wanted to try it myself. For future driving of larger amps. I basically want to mod the hell out of the radio. I'm just hoping that this is ALL due to blowing the final

You know... I'm not even sure i got a great output reading because i was trying to setup swr at the same time. I'm pretty sure i had as poor grounding and near my house... my antenna is 52" stinger and i couldn't get it right. But before i saw smoke come out the back i was getting 10 watt dk and 30 watts peak. So you think this could be due to the antenna setup poor low dead key? I'm still struggling to understand how it all works. On the instructions it says use 1000uf. Also I'm testing continuity of the drain and source IN CIRCUIT. Same rule supply right? What could fry the resistor like this? I really don't want to make the same mistake again.

Ya, i just laid the wire down and soldered it to the lead of the other component. Nothing was near it so i let it all hang. This is where the signal comes back on board. Would somthing like this get through the solder mask?
