Here is what I do for cooling the Maxtrac radios for repeater use.
Welded up rack from square and flat bar. I have two fans mounted on an aluminum angle that is cut and screwed into the rack.
Additionally, I have two fans mounted on bottom of TX radio to blow air over the transistors mounted on lef
I would think you would want the cooling fans much closer to the back of the radio. You are losing a lot of air being that far behind the radio & with a muffin fan for sure since the air flow is not huge anyway.I'd shorten that bracket & get the fans no more than an inch off of the heat sinks. The closer the better.
Thanks for the feedback. The picture might be a little deceiving. the closer fan is only 2 inches away. The one by the antenna connector is farther away because if its any closer, I can't get the antenna lead connected. This is currently working. If I push it to 100% duty cycle, I may place a squirrel cage fan closer for additional air flow.
