    10m isn't dead

Another day... the band is open again now... my local time of roughly noon. That VP8 is calling CQ again, and possibly making stateside contacts since he's giving reports to them. I can't "see" them, only the VP8. Made my point... no more posts on this subject. 73 my friends.

    10m isn't dead

I hear 'ya on not making that new purchase fogdog. It's been awhile since I've seen what the band is capable of. I just made this post to point out that, if you're in or near Texas, SA comes in on 10m often... btw, I'm copying on a simple wire vertical with the base about 4ft. off the ground.

    10m isn't dead

I'm sure what I see is "regional" so that's why I mentioned my location. Again, I see this SA pattern three to four days of the week.

    10m isn't dead

I've made it a point to monitor 10m the past month or so. Most days I can see FT8 activity from South America. I'm located in Texas and am surprised to see that the US stations are seldom there to make contact with these stations. Today the dx was coming in from approx. 1900- thru 2100z and at...

    SW number station

Yea, I don't believe it's Selcal. It's indeed a mystery. On the sdr, it's not the $1200 Elad Duo. It's the S2 (no transmit... rx only) for about half that price. After a lifetime (decades) of using radio "boxes" for SW-LW-HF reception, I took the plunge and bought the sdr, not knowing the...

    SW number station

Does sound like Selcal... Wonder if someone else will run across this transmission at another time and see if they get the same audio I got.

    SW number station

Ok... I managed to set up a temporary video on the 'net taken of my sdr screen (recorded) during a numbers station transmission. Yes, I know the video isn't in perfect focus, and the sounds dynamic range isn't great. The sound of the digital data is far stronger than the S/S female voice. The...

    CB Dx on the digimodes

Lots of 27.700usb SSTV rolling in at this time... Just a "heads up" to those who wish to monitor the activity.

    SW number station

I'm not sure how to post an audio clip on this board. As far as identifying the mode, a lot of the digital audio sounds similar... just "hissing" noise. I think viewing the audio spectrum might be more productive. Could you use a screen capture photo? I think the stations are interesting...

    SW number station

Noticed a spanish language AM "numbers station" on 11.435mhz at 16:00utc today. I've heard them many times in the past, but it seems they are using a different format. At least this one is. First, the usual voice number readoff, but then a two-tone followed by a transmission in some digital...

    CB Dx on the digimodes

That's cool IMD262! I'm a fairly recent observer of the activity myself. I'd like to see how many countries I can log (receive). I'm just an "swl". You might consider placing those images on one of the "photobucket" type websites for all to see. Your images are an interesting history of the...

    CB Dx on the digimodes

Give it a try. It's been quite a while (last spring) since I was seeing the activity. Back then Europe was in every morning. By afternoon, the band shifted to south of the border. I saw quite a few very nice scans back then. It looks like the activity is picking back up. The only problem are...

Stopping channel bleed over for locals.

Oh yea, no regulation is an absolute no-no. Even with regulation, if the supply is too small, the voltage will "sag" on voice peaks and cause all sorts of bad waveforms into that amp.

    CB Dx on the digimodes

Nice to see propagation supporting SSTV again on 27.700 usb (in spite of fierce ssb traffic). Germany and France appearing on the display at this time.
