Perhaps disable your anti virus program for a short time whilst disconnected from the internet.
Then install the new MCP-2A. Other wise, if you use the old MCP-2A you will not have the new features when editing the database of the D710 whilst the D710 is up to date.

Duncan,
You have the right settings to access ISS via APRS.
I did it this morning (Sat 05/03/11) when we had an excellent overpass here in NSW. I got in with the standard rubber duck type antenna using 5W and got the "My position Via RS0ISS" back.
Great fun.

I would be more then happy to do a write up on the Kenwood TM-D710
I have two of them and have been using them for 2 years now.
Give me a week or two (I am travelling Australia at the moment) and I will write about my experiences with the 710 and put it on this forum.
Kind regards...
When the Kenwood transmit a beacon from the A-side, then the B-side is shut down for a short period for obvious reasons.
I have two TM-D710's and they both do it as well as others I have seen.
Hope this helps,
Gerard

The HT I use is the Kenwood TH-F7.

I just put the 710 in CrossBand mode with a UHF simplex frequency on one side and the Local repeater 2m on the other side.
That way I can wander around as I like and always have a good copy of the repeater...
You are correct. The Kenwood operates well in CrossBand mode.
I use it all the time where I can have my HT on 50mW linking to the 710 into our local repeater.

Ok, What I meant was this:
When a tm-D700 beacons and this is received by a TM-D710 then the 710 shows that the beacon originated from the 700.
Also, when a 710 beacons then another 710 receiving this beacon will show that it originated from a 710.
Further when a Yaesu VR-8 HT beacons...
Hi all,
New to this group and have been reading reviews and replies with great interest.
I have 2 Kenwoods TM-D710s and they have been working fine for quite some time.
Yesterday, the Kenwood website had a firmware upgrade on it for the 710 which I installed without issues. The update was...
