I had the same exact problem and haven't heard many that didn't say the same about being off frequency. I also got upset and broke out my trusty Grant XL. The only good thing I can say about the 959 is it does have great receive and its easy to mod xtra channels. But it just sits there. I am...
When my wife finds out I bought a new radio, gun or guitar she gets all happy cause that means she can go on a spending spree. I hide as much as possible. I have used the "oh that old thing I have had that forever but I just fixed it up.

For mobile I just like old school Grant XL or LTs with a Wilson 1000. They have good receive and usually won't get stolen like an expensive export will. I do like to take my Magnum 257HP on road trips though.

Hello neighbor
Im ususlly on 38-LSB as Meter Beater 1724. I haven't done much CBin until recently when the DX skip has finally started to open up again. Last night was incredible and the skip lasted until almost midnight.
I acquired a refurbished 959 on ebay and did the xtra channel mod. I do get complaints of drift though and bad audio. Im getting a new mic to see if that helps the audio.
