    Yaseu FTDX-1200 anyone?

I say go for it. It is one of the best radios i have ever owned. I started out as a novice in 1983 with a brand new FT-102.

    Kenwood TS-130S for sale

The radio is in excellent electronic and cosmetic condition. It has both a narrow CW filter and a narrow (1.8 khz) SSB filter. $400.00 and i ship within the 48. No trades, no Pay-pal, USPS money order only. Also have an external DDS VFO for $75.00 if interested (zero drift). Pictures...

    Kenwood PS-430 running hot

RE: PS-430 getting hot I use a PS-430 to power both an ICOM IC-271A two meter radio and an ICOM IC-471A 70cm radio at the same time for working satellites. The 471A is in amost continual transmit and the 271A is of course in continual receive. The power supply only becomes warm in these...

Newbee needs help... torn between Yeasu 897D and FT 450D

I had a Yaesu 897D for a very short while. It had a spur right on one of the frequencies i work the most. Dealer said tough luck and the factory didn't want to see it. Sold it and bought a Kenwood TS-480SAT. Still have the 480, have it permanently mounted in the truck and use it mobile all of...

    Are you a ARRL Member?

Am i a member of the ARRL? Hell no. When i was young and dumb i was but i shortly corrected that. It's just a self serving bunch of geezers (and i'm 58!) that are promoting their own intrests and their own ideals. And QST is a biased bunch of advertisements. Sorry, just my experience...

    Activity???

Regarding Satellite Activity I used to be very involved in satellite communications back in the early 80's, working some AO-10, but mostly the Mode A satellites ... RS-10/11, etc. In short all of the satellites that didn't cost an arm and a leg to get involved in. Now i have a station that will...

    Satellite antennas

Well, just got off of a VO-52 pass this morning and ended up talking to myself again. Station is working FB, just no one else around. Guess not too many people want to invest in the mode when they can work the FM satellites with a hand held and an Arrow antenna. I'll keep trying.

    Satellite antennas

I don't have any idea about the FM satellites as i don't plan on working any of them. I don't even ever work the FM repeaters here around Reno where i live. Well, i made contacts with myself ... copied my downlink signal perfectly, however there wasn't anyone else on when i tried it this...

    Satellite antennas

UPDATE ... Well, i bought the egg beaters anyway and am glad i did. With the two meter antenna mounted temporarily about eight feet off of the ground and fed with an ancient 30 foot piece of Radio Shack RG-Mini8 coax i was able to copy QSO's on VO-52 down to 8 degrees above the horizon thru...

    Satellite antennas

New to this forum. I'm just getting back into the satellites after being away for about 23 years. I am only interested in working the SSB transponders on AO-7 and VO-52and have no interest in FM via the satellites that offer that. With that being said, i am wondering if the 'egg beater' style...
