    Crossbanding radios

There are a couple of items I don' think have been covered... Others mentioned the desire for dual-display and need for ID (which most crossband radios actually don't do). But more importantly, a crossband radio needs to be full-duplex. Most dual-band radios are not full-duplex: when they...

    New Anytone AT-588UV VHF/UHF Mobile

Ed, of Import Communications, has posted "Operating Notes". He specifically requests that the document not be reproduced or re-posted. It is a very rough draft, but it does give a sense of how to operate the radio. I imagine it will eventually be superceded by an instruction manual.

    New Anytone AT-588UV VHF/UHF Mobile

Thanks for posting; it is indeed very interesting. About the features: Detachable Control Head with CAT5 separation cable Good to see that. In other web sites I had seen speculation that it would not be detachable. Cross-Band Repeat Another feature I wanted. At Import Communications...

Connecting to TNC on Yaesu FTM-350AR

That is correct. And if you want to hook up an external TNC, note that the SQL (squelch control) pin on the FTM-350 has the wrong polarity. So you should program the TNC to use software carrier detect (and depending on the TNC, cut that line to the TNC).

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I expect RT Systems to provide software to manage the user-settable parameters (such as storing frequencies in memory). We were hoping for more - the ability to update the executable firmware developed by Yaesu. I'm sure that Yaesu has the ability to do so (and that's how they repaired our...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

Turn-around time I thought I'd post my experience with the firmware update. I sent the unit back to Yaesu directly. (Although I bought it locally, the dealer confirmed I should deal with Yaesu directly.) - Yaesu received it and signed for it on Day 1 (from the carrier's information)...

    Yaesu FTM-350 Review Summary

Moleculo, Thanks for the very excellent review (the summary in this thread, and all the other info you provided on the other threads). Two items I thought worth mentioning: - You mention the 220MHz availability. For those that did not read the fine print, it provides only 1W. - I thought the...

    Yaesu FTM-350 APRS Review

FTM-350R: No packet!?! I also had trouble getting AGWPE to work. The FTM-350R uses neither terminal mode, nor KISS mode. So I emailed Yaesu asking for more documentation for packet, and they responded after consulting with the engineers in Japan. Apparently there is no packet support...

    Yaesu FTM-350 lock-up problems

I am getting very frequent lock-ups. Here are my observations and thoughts: The only critical settings I've found is that the APRS output is set, in E16, with the receiver set to a frequency with lots of traffic (I've been using the APRS 144.390MHz frequency). Also, the APRS modem is...
