AB1 Amplifier & Class C Amplifier Sideband comparison
Both radios? Hey Mack, same radio different amplifiers. The test may have been a cheat. Notice that the "AB1" amp was narrated as sideband. Were all the tests on sideband? SILVER STREAK 150 (2 X MRF455) ?
Voltage is the Key The data sheet shows that 1 watt at 13.6 vdc produces 55watts, and at 12 vdc only 50. So, 5 watts at 13.6 produces 80 watts. In ideal conditions it would stand to reason that your Silver Streak should be capable of 160 watts! Conversely, my Palomar "Elite" 400 with 4...- Stevenp55
