yea i am running a husler 5BTV ground mounted.

yea i saw somethig simalar to that but i wanted strainded center. that stuff is solid 10 awg cca center. i have that stuff here it bends but not well. im pulling 4 cables thru pvc at 100 or so feet with like 4 to 6 90 degree sweeps and bends so i though strainded would be better for me..

I ordered mine from DX Engeneering. 500 foot spool of there DXE400 low loss strainded center cond. Coax, 50 Ohm low loss RG-8/U type, PE jacket, UV resistant, direct buriable, 500 foot spool It looked like decent stuff. 0.73 cents a foot for 500 ft.

I forgot to mension this is for the Most HF 30MHZ and below and will be using a 800PEP 600 watt ameriton amp.. i was not sure of the db loss per conector. and pecentage of power loss ERP..

I have ran pvc underground many times , i never had that problem, i always terminate my pvc into pvc water tight boxes on each end. I ran my pool filter set up the same way with 1 and 1/4 and never had any water issues,, i can see if you have your ends of the pve facing up from the ground opened...

I got my NEW tubes today from ameritron and i put them in and turned the amp on and tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic,,,,,grrrrrr.. so out out the 8 tubes i have i put my four best ones in and its sitting warming up on my bench right now tic free.. WTF.... SO ive been through 2 amps 12 tubes and...

no kidding huh,,, i think i should get to keep the these tubes ,,, just in case it happens again i at least have two spares..

SOLVED >>>>>> ok i put 1 tube in at a time and found that 2 tubes out of the four was causing the ticking in the amp and one tube had sometihgn rattling .... so i think thre was a batch of bad tubes... ameritron is sending me a new set of 4 and i have to send these ones back

when it ticks, in standby no grid current is shown the neddle is steady

turned on the amp this morning after it cooled and the ticking is back

Now this is funny ,,, i tuned to the 20 meter band. tuned the amp to 600 watts keyed up u few times and when unkeyed my s meter stayed up the top with some buzzing and my grid current meter went past negative zero. so i keyed it again and unkeyed, and the ticking stopped and grid current went...

i have done all that ,, all i have pluged in is the amp no other cables. and i can still hear it with my own ear and through a am fm radio ...i called ameritron again this morning , and he said it could be a bad tube witch i doubt , but i said it transmits fine and so did the last one i had,, so...

so is there anyhting in this amp cause arcing or a clicking under the tubes. i can hear it in from the side of the amp with my ear up to it,, it sounds like a hv discharge like a strobe light would make. i looked at the tubes i do not see any arcking inside the tubes it transmits fine... grrrr...

anyone got any idea on this??

it only hapens where the amp is in receive mode and listening to radio i hear tic tic tic tic tic in the radio receive every econd or so ... tx is fine,, and if i pull all the coax off the amp and its just powered by ac and i get a normal am radio and tune to dead station and put it near the amp...

I called ameritron and the tech never heard of this problem and he told me to try stretching out the 4 coils a little on the board that connects to the top of the 4 tubes.. make any sense to anyone???

Yea i just did that before i read your post it was the only thing i didnt adjust yet. i just thought it was pre tuned from the factory .. I got the swr down and full output on 20 meter so far. i cant seem to get full output on all bands yet on my Hustler 5BTV i have a dummy load that was built...

Boy do i feel stupid i just rechecked all my connections and i found i put my ground wire on the wire antenna conection on the tuner instad of the ground. there right next to eachother thats what i get for just reaching in the back and doing it blind so now i get about 400 wats out still not the...
