    I ran into the same problem, and this is what did the trick for me: Install the driver and plug in the USB cable. In the Windows Device Mager, right-click "Silicon Labs CP210x ..." and select "Properties". Select "Port Settings" -> "Advanced". Change the COM Port Number to something else...
