    I have a dx-949 that was made in may 2011 that does not drift at all. Maybe the newer models have had this issue resolved. Either that or I got lucky.

    Yeo DEFINITELY need to use the software FOR THAT SPECIFIC radio! Use of the older software will brick your radio! No software for the uvd2s, 2s, or 3s! Glad you got it working... and glad the older software didn't work, or you coulda had a worse problem.
