That's my primary concern with messing with them, I have no experience with working with high voltages! But as long as I don't make myself a path to ground and check, check, and recheck my wiring I think I could manage not to kill myself
Where do you find them? I am assuming not all...
Well I figured that possibly because they are not used anymore that perhaps it was a novelty for a project being built around old technology.
Anyway, looking at some circuits they do seem to be very simple compared to a transistor equivalent. I'm assuming its harder to burn out vs a transistor too?
Hmm, I might want to start playing with vacuum tubes.
Working with high voltages scare me though and its not
like something I can plop on my breadboard :P
Do you guys have any sort of introductory literature to getting
started with working with tubes that you would recommend.
Also...
I got licensed fairly recently. One of the reasons I got licensed is because I enjoy making
electronics and wanted to experiment with RF.
I was looking at some DIY linear amplifier projects and a lot of them seem to be based around
vacuum tubes instead of modern transistors. Are there...
Ok... so imagine you are in your room. Off in the distance to your left there is an AM radio station, to your right there is an FM station. Imagine you have super RF seeing eyes
You look to your left and you see a redish light coming through the wall. It gets brighter and dimmer as it...
This is exactly right.
Also the programming failed issue was because I was using the wrong software!
They didn't print out new programming instructions for the KG-UV6D's so the instruction told me to download the KG-UV3D programming software. I was an idiot and just figured the software...
Nope, its certainly not the keypad lock feature causing problems. I opened a support ticket with powerwerx and
they said that because of FCC requirements all of their radio's get shipped with the keypad locked and you have
to disable with the software. Maybe its a new thing with the KG-UV6D? No...
It won't even respond to the reset command :(
I think I might be dead in the water here. I'll open up a
support ticket with powerwerx and get it send back I guess.
Is this a common issue with Wouxun's or did I just get really unlucky?
I just got licensed and I bought the KG-UV6D as my first transceiver. I think it might be broken though.
I have read through the manual and tried google searching with no luck, so I am asking you guys for help.
Right now I am just trying to get it to change frequency. All I have to select from...
