    cobra148f issues

guy told me he quickly hit it with reverse polarity, the sacrificial lamb diode didn't pop. now it doesn't move from something like 27.565.

    Base Double Extended Zepp

the EDZ is great. do it. i have converted all my outdoor feedline over to balanced feed using a 9:1, 450 ohm, and a folded dipole hung vertically in a big pine. For my west coast antenna, i plan on making a 4x phased array of 1.25~ doublets like the EDZ between 2 90' pines with 600 ohm. no...

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

ya know, i didnt think the diff would be drastic but i got more than 1s unit on all the locals a little farther out. this is just supposed to be a one-off experiment for sh1ts and giggles and it ended up being my full-time base antenna

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

so how i keep the shape of a folded dipole was to wrap it lengthwise across 2 sections of PVC conduit to make it easier to hang vertical. so far i have not encountered any other CBers going this route.

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

i had some coax on the shopping list but this was just a very successful experiment and i now cannot justify the cost of that long of a run of LMR600. i want some other people to mess with it, maybe optimise it some. a folded dipole is resonant, but at about 200-300 ohms so most people use a...

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

close enough for govt work i guess. no higher than a 1.5:1 across 3+ band segments

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

because it's what i had laying around

    Don't be afraid of ladderline

got rid of the 150' run of rg8x into the big pine tree but instead of dropping an arm and a leg on lmr600, i decided to give a folded dipole and 450ohm windowline a try. running a 9:1 3kw balun right behind the radio room. dropping the feed loss from 42% to 5% is HUGE. so no more coax outside...

    Bubba-Tech Parabolic Dish Antenna

i would make a fullwave loop and a director myself if it was a huge dish.

Please explain how the Ch 9 / Ch 19 switch operates?

i like to use the PA switch for stingers or rfx units because it goes from "public address" to "power amp"

Please explain how the Ch 9 / Ch 19 switch operates?

sounds like the perfect easy conversion for something like an echo mod or a diode-switched channel kit oscillator

Please explain how the Ch 9 / Ch 19 switch operates?

i like repurposing them for other mods myself

    i think i just bricked a 29gtl

ok i got tied up with other things like shoveling snow. SO ANYWAYS: ALWAYS use mica insulators on TO-220 transistors. i threw a cheap rubber insulator behind the NPC-RC darlington bolted to the case, jabberjawed for hours, and it apparently failed so im just gonna swap the 4003 diode to be...

    i think i just bricked a 29gtl

i just put a partspigged one in. still getting something pulling from it so now for my next trick, gonna change out all the parts connected to it.

    i think i just bricked a 29gtl

looking at the schematic, i got more questions now. theoretically if i was in PA mode i wouldve shot that voltage throught the transformer on the primary, but i dont think i was in pa mode. so maybe the secondary sh1t the bed just because....idk it felt like it?

    i think i just bricked a 29gtl

yea, the rfx is fine. not really looking forward to that labor or for the recap, mods, etc i already did to go into the trash. such a waste of time. im not looking to throw the rfx on a junker either, the rig really looks good, and its an older sidemic. also, the serial number tag on this got...

    i think i just bricked a 29gtl

ffffff. so i just put a new choke, power connector etc on my 29, extensive work incl a rfx has already been done. goofed up and there was a solder bridge, from the pad that recieves the power from the harness to the positive pin of the PA jack. now the modulation transformer gets hot and smokes...

yea, just make sure its the right one, a cobra 29 meter has SWR readings, a cobra 25 meter just has pwr and signal
