I haven't made the investment in anything that "fancy".......yet. Not saying it couldn't happen, someday, but for the time being, I am sticking with my good ol' standard 40 channel SSB radio. I have too many other hobbies and pastimes to put any more eggs in the CB basket at this time! I'm...
Yep, I heard most of the other locations you listed as well, yesterday. Wasn't able to make contact with the others, but my contact with England was pretty fun. But, it's like a drug! Now, I can't wait for the next. I'm also looking forward to improving conditions that the peaking solar cycle...
Finally! I had never made a contact off the North American continent before. Yesterday I had a QSO with a gentleman in Northern England. Started on 38LSB. He suggested going down to 37. After a few seconds he suggested 35( if I remember correctly). We reconnected every QSY, but although I kept...
I've always wondered why everyone crowds onto LSB, especially 38, but other channels as well. It seems like USB is always vacant. Why is that, anyway. Seems like a waste of good air space!
I'm glad you mentioned that it shorts the unused port. I noticed this while testing continuity with multimeter and wondered if it was normal. So, you answered that question for me. Thanks
I will probably do the same as far as only turning on one I'm using. I've even considered making some sort of cover for the mic of whichever is not connected to antenna. It's either that or just not be in such a hurry and pay attention to what I am doing!
So, I installed a switch to be able to swap between two radios on one antenna. Then, I proceeded to immediately do a bonehead move! I was going to check SWR on one radio.......wait for it....... while I had the switch in the position for the other radio! So, I technically transmitted for a few...
Ok. Thanks. Kinda what I figured but wasn't sure. If it didn't involve totally disassembly of the connector from the cable, I would be able to put the threaded/knurled shell in my lathe, where it would be a breeze! Dremel to the rescue, I guess. Thanks
Upon further inspection and research, I was in error ever calling them "swivel". It's just that they're doing exactly as you described. The inner part is not being allowed to tighten enough to engage the teeth that would stop it from "swiveling". So, what part of the outer shell is actually...
It doesn't call them "swivel". I am just saying that they do swivel. So, to search them, type: Superbat coax jumper cables, then scroll down until you see the ones with 90° connectors on both ends. It's pretty simple. If that doesn't work for you, it really doesn't matter. I'm already coming up...
It has the detents but it seems like the tightening ring tightens before the detents engage. And the center pin is awfully loose in center hole. It can be wiggled in both directions even when as tight as it will go. This tells me not to use it since I would expect the connection to be...
The more I look at them and think about it, the more I agree with you. I didn't realize they "swiveled" until I received them. I don't like the idea, either. How could you possibly trust them to maintain a solid connection?! I will be coming up with some solid 90° connectors for sure!
Anyone ever use jumper cables that have a "swiveling" 90° connector on each end? Do they form a reliable connection? I bought some for my application and after looking at them, I started wondering if it was actually safe to trust them to have a solid connection. Thanks!
Here in North Central US, I occasionally pick up weak bits and pieces. But it's hard to hold on to any signal for long enough to make a contact. I'm suffering withdrawals!!!
