I would start with the caps in the power supply. Start at the a/c input and work your way through to the final dc. I would guess it would be one on the a/c line if it's arcing.

I run a single coil 27in shaft 10k mounted on my tool box. Tuned to a 1.0swr 50ohms and 1X on the mfj. 2 watts reflected on 10watt slug with 800 out on 1000w slug.
