When you guys talk on the radio do you use "CB slang"? You know...BUMP BUMP, I gust got down, no doubt about it, etc. etc.? What if you walked into McDonalds and placed your order like this...

I agree with Robb. I have one of these in very good condition. It never even had the clarifier done until last week while I was having it aligned. It's no 2000GTL but it isn't far behind in the running.

If it were me, I would just do an alignment and turn the modulation up a bit. That way if you ever sold it the next guy would appreciate having a nice all original virgin radio.

Yes, the 148 is worth fixing depending on how much the costs are to repair it. These were one of the best CB radios ever made.
Any of you out there receiving the "digital lullaby" on channel 17? I think someone near me is doing it. It stays keyed down for hours. Just wondering how for its reaching out.

I have a TS5010 and I made the same mistake of hooking it up backwards. It blew my diode inside. I'm willing to bet this $0.25 in my pocket that's whats wrong with your friends radio. It'll be the diode closest to where the power source enters the board. It will probably be visibly burnt.
