hi, my name is Randall ( or Randy) and my call is KB9KXH. I am not active since i moved to my new home and have up only attic antennas for now ( i still listen just dont transmit).I also enjoy shortwave listening, and electronic troubleshooting and repair of all types of equipment, and ofcourse...
Its a good radio for the money, i own one that i use at work. It will not keep up with a good communications receiver but it does pull in the strong ones just fine. One feature i like is you can switch from 4 C batteries or 4AA batteries if you want to cut the weight down. One thing i don't like...
I know michigan, kentucky, and florida will not allow a scanner in your vehicle unless you are a ham, there may be other states as well. I took the test and got my amateur license in 95 so that i could take one with me to florida to watch the launch of the sarex mission satellite. I seldom use...
glass mount antennas can be good over a narrow frequency range, the mount to the glass is a capacitor using the glass as its dialectic. But i would think that the bandwidth would be too narrow to be practical with a scanner that covers a wide range of frequencies.
If you experience overload, you can just turn down the rf gain control, or turn up the attenuator if your radio has one. Frontend overload symtoms are stations coming through on the wrong places on the dial, like you local am broadcast station might show up at various places along the dial when...
string up a wire 126 ft long if you have room, if not then 66 ft. long, and then tap into it at 14% off center and run that wire to your positive high impedance antenna terminal, then ground the negative terminal and get ready to be amazed. these lengths are chosen to be harmonically related to...
If you disasemble the rf2200 bandswitch watch out for the tiny ball bearing under a leaf spring, i can tell you from experience it will fly out at nearly the speed of sound and be lost in the void (garage shop in my case) forever. If you need a service manual they have one on the yahoo groups...
check to make sure the transformer is bolted tight to the chassis, sometimes they get loose and vibrate too. probably the hum is caused because the power supply is too small and dont have a high enough current rating or because it needs new filter caps. Or one diode could be open in the...
Start about the middle of the supply and unhook the regulator boards. Then power the supply up and measure the voltage at the filter caps, it should be equal to the peak value of the secondary winding of the transformer ( rms x 1.41) If it is then you have a short or open in your regulator...
your receiver section does not use as much current as your transmitter, try a higher wattage power supply, or if it worked fine before check the large filter caps in your supply if it is a linear supply.
To cover higher voltages it would have a series resistor, chosen by a the meters internal resistance, for an rf probe it would have a diode and cap to demodulate the rf and charge the cap to a voltage that represents the rf signal strength. Direct probes are just that direct.
go to RadioReference.com - Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference and click database, then click your state, then your county and you will get all the frequencies.
How many miles is it to australia from where you are? the reason i ask is that radio waves arrive from basically two paths, one is skywave that bounces off the ionosphere, the other is groundwave which travels along the ground. There is a zone between where the groundwave dies off and the...
find out which trunking system the service you will be listening to and get a scanner that receives that system. There are at least 3 systems, maybe more by now, but you won't need to pay more for a triple tracker if a double tracker will cover your areas frequencies. You can find out what you...
