6 meter dxing

Well i finally had a band opening on 6m and man it was fun!

I have read a lot of info on how to work 6m and it's paying off.

I made contact with station from central Cal. who was working dx to the north so after signal report and short qso i swung yagi around to north and worked stations from Portland,Or. and another from Salem,Or.

So those of you with 6m keep listening with spring and early summer on it's way, some great dxing should come along with it.

Not having any HF privileges 6 meters is now my favorite ham band,I'm hooked.<img src=http://www.wwdx.org/smilies/posticon23.gif ALT=":23">

Hey all,6 meters has been wide open for about the last 5 days.
Since wednesday i have worked 9 states,2 provinces from Canada and 1 XE station from Mexico.Lost count on grid squares.
Wow when 6 is open it's just like HF,it seems to act alot like 10 or 11 meters except the band openings dont last as long.Well anyway it sure was fun to work some real DX.
Hey was there a 6m club call freq.,i dont remember(CRS).
Keep your ears out for grid DM09 it could be me.

Nice band opening today,turned rig on at 12:30 pdst and 6 meters was wide open.Conditions lasted about 5 hours.
Worked 3 new states bringing the total to 13 states.
Todays DX conditions were some of the best i have seen so far this summer.Listen up for grid DM09 it could be me.
BTW FYI states worked today from Reno were AZ.,Co.,SD,OK

Are you using a verticle antenna or horizontal? I'm using a dipole and have had ZERO luck. Maybe its just me though?

crawlingtoy,I use a 2 element yagi horz. polarized with great results.So far i have worked 16 states and 2 countries.
With your user name i guess you might have a rock buggie?

Well, I have a plan to move my antenna up about 40 feet higher then it is now. That might help a bit!

No rock buggy (YET), I actually have SAS '89 4runner that is slowly getting built. Unfortunately I have a radio addiction as well.....

Crawlingtoy raising your dipole will certianly help.You could consider a small yagi or quad?
Nice 4runner, looks like fun. I have a 1986 ford ranger with james duff goodies along with many other accesories that i use and abuse regularly.
Where about's are you (Sierra Nevada Foothills)? I have family in Auburn and Lincoln,CA. I have a ham ticket and know of many repeaters that reach into N. Cal. PM me if you want my call.
