Cheap but Good Marine Antenna

Hey My dad just put a marine rig in his truck, and we were wondering what would be a good magnet mount ant ?

Would a little will work ? And should the SWR be around the same as a c.b ?

We are open for suggestions and i know i will get some very good ones, thanks for all the good help from all the good people that know there raido stuff.

I-would-relate-my-experience-with-this-antenna-but-the-space-bar-on-my-key-board-doesn't-work.---Makes-it-hard-to-type---Sorry.---It's-not-cheap-but-they-work-very-well-mobile.---To-use-one-as-a-base-you-need-either-more-ground-plane-or-an-antenna-tuner.--I'm-hearing-stations-I-couldn't-hear-with-my-copper-J-pole.

Quick and Dirty:



Purchase Rat Shack 5/8 wave mag-mount 2meter ham antenna. whip is ~48 in.



Trim ~3 inches off whip. This makes 5/8 wave "marine" magmount antenna tuned for 156.800 MHz, or Ch 16 on the duck-pluckin Marine VHF band.



Have at it.
