The FCC has significantly reduced the fine it imposed earlier this year on an Oklahoma Amateur Extra class radio amateur licensee for operating his Citizens Band radio to interfere with other CBers’ transmissions. Orloff Haines, KF5IXX, had been facing a $12,000 fine. In a June 17 Forfeiture Order, the Commission dropped Haines’s liability to $1750.

too bad life endangering activity, such as speeding, driving and texting, etc... do not carry any where near the stiff penalty of dead keying in a dead band and possibly interfering with a couple people's use of just one channel on a dead band.

The vast majority of us are probably thankful the above mentioned things do not carry the same penalty. Who can HONESTLY say they have never sped? :laugh: Can you imagine.....70MPH in a 55 MPH zone and a $12,000 fine. :eek:
