Need recommendations for a good quality shortwave radio

Hey all, I need some recommendations for a good quality (older)

shortwave radio. I have a Sangean that I bought a few years ago and it is ok. But a friend of mine has a really antient Hallicrafters and the receive on the Hallicrafters puts my new "high tech" Sangean to shame shame shame. I don't want something too awfully antient though<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Thanks, Hossless

One of the best "older" receivers is the Kenwood R-1000.I bought mine new back about 1985 and still have it.After they were discontinued every time I went back to the ham dealer where I bought it he kept trying to buy it back because he had a list of about 8-9 guys wanting one.It has very good sensitivity and a near bullet proof front end.www.eham.net/reviews/detail/489 Check ou the reviews on eham.I will NEVER get rid of mine.

Looks like a really great receiver. I'll have to keep my eyeballs peeled for one.

Thanks, Hossless
