Hi Guys,

I currently picked up a Puxing Px-888 for hunting since my old Motorola handheld's dont seem to have to have the range anymore with all the brush and such. Anyway I programmed the PX-888 to the GRMS/FRS Freq. Now he is where i run into the problem. I can receive talk and everything else on the Puxing fine from my Motorola. But when I go to Transmit back to the Motorola from my Puxing all I hear on the Motorola is Static and the line opening and closing. Any Ideas?

O here are my Spec BTW

Squelch 5
Step 25K
Power- High
Narrow or Wide - Narrow
MSK II

Thanks Guys!

How close are you to the Moto?

The puxing puts out a few more watts and may be "slamming" the receive of the Moto?

Have someone else walk down the block and see if it works, they may as well get you a beer while they are gone. (y)

first off, I would make sure the puxing is not set for repeater offset.
I assume you are doing simplex FRS and not GMRS thru a repeater.

If you still have problems, then get a scanner to see how it sounds on that. If you cant find it then do a search with the scanner antenna disconnected, since your right next to it.

You mean adding or subtracting 5.0 MHZ to the TX Freq? or RX? Is that what you mean by Repeater off set?

But Basically all I did was put in the Frequencies from the internet for the Moto's and the TX and RX Freq are the Same on the Puxing

Can you show what frequencies you are putting in?

Channel Type Frequency
1 FRS / GMRS 462.5625
2 FRS / GMRS 462.5875
3 FRS / GMRS 462.6125
4 FRS / GMRS 462.6375
5 FRS / GMRS 462.6625
6 FRS / GMRS 462.6875
7 FRS / GMRS 462.7125
8 FRS 467.5625
9 FRS 467.5875
10 FRS 467.6125
11 FRS 467.6375
12 FRS 467.6625
13 FRS 467.6875
14 FRS 467.7125
15 GMRS 462.5500
16 GMRS 462.5750
17 GMRS 462.6000
18 GMRS 462.6250
19 GMRS 462.6500
20 GMRS 462.6750
21 GMRS 462.7000
22 GMRS 462.7250

Just an example

1 FRS / GMRS 462.5625

You may enter that frequency, but is it staying or is it going in as 462.560 or 462.565

My yaesu would round off until I changed the settings

Heres a Screen Shot of My Programming Screen. Do I have to add a 6.25 KHZ off Set?

untitled.jpg

I downloaded the manual here is what I found

Press the MENU button.

Rotate the encoder knob until STEP is displayed, menu #20?

Push ENTER

Turn the encoder knob and select the desired frequency step.

5Khz 10Khz 6.25khz 12.5Khz 25Khz

I THINK you would select 6.25????

Press the ESC/M button twice.

And try to enter a frequency 462.5625

Yeah it automatically adds the zero. I tried the step to 6.25k and still no luck. I am usually good at figuring most things out but I'm stumped here!!

Update!!! Problem Fixed. Data Cable was loose or the Mic must have not been connected opened it up and it works. Range isnt as I hoped but it works!

You mean the range as distance? not frequency?

What kind of antenna connector is on that radio? BNC, SMA?

Smiley Antennas GMRS/FRS ANTENNA

5/8 Slim Duck 3 to 7 db gain flexible base loaded antenna,,,,,,
Available in GMRS,,,,,,

May help your range? Worth a try for $21
