I came across a near mint JB 12, but the only problem is no tube. What is the required tube for this baby. Also, where might I find the best prices on tubes.Thanking all in advance.
Single tube, a 6BQ5/EL84. there is another one,Industral tube, I can`t remember at the moment, that will sub for it as well(Brain fade ), I got 2 6BQ`s from RF parts, but that was quite a while ago, I do not know if they still have stock or not. Tubes are getting harder to find nowadays..
They are a swing`in little Modulator, but tend to be a little "Wide" in the bandpass if you know what I mean......I used to have a home brew 6X6LB6 box with a JB-12 driving it...
"When the neighbors come a knocking, its time to stop talking...."
The industrial tube for this is the 7189.But those are the pricy ones, the EL84 tube is still being made and isnt real pricy as they are still being used in guitar amps.
Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
