This is from Bulldog Communications' Facebook page:

Exclusive view of Kale Cavel's Predator Competition Plus BAD TO THE BONE one of a kind horizontal mobile antenna on a 27" shaft! The white load is a wire wrapped around another insulator and has a painted shrink boot to match my car and to cover up the wire. The load builds up voltage and amplifies the audio to the coil. Not in production!

I'm not sure who's idea this was, but it's a bad idea. Whoever came up with the description quoted above of how an antenna designed like this works has some explaining to do, as well.

Let's hope this antenna stays out of production to help people hang on to some of their cash. Or, if they like burning money that bad, they can send it to me instead ;)

Hey now....I built myself a super-fangled DX Buster Competition Key Down Whack Stick out of a trusty 102" whip with....extra stuff and things. And I rated it to boost AUDIO.....that's right...an audio boosting antenna. I call it the Wire Weasel 7000 AB. That's AB for Audio Boosting. And everybody says I'm loud so it must be true.

I don't know what jealousy has to do with anything. The description about what that antenna is and how it works are completely inaccurate. The design of the antenna is horrible. If they decide to make that for sale and people want to buy it, they have been warned. It's a free country...

I'm not sure who made those claims on that antenna...Kale made a couple 2 or 3 of those several years back, but they were never marketed, and never will be.

For the most part the coil thats shrink wrapped just lets the antenna tune using a short stinger placed horizontally... without that shrink wrapped coil the horizontal stinger would end up twice as long...

One in the picture is mounted on the back of Kales Monte Carlo, and believe it or not, the thing works better than you would think...I talked with him last week at a distance of about 15 miles or better, and thought he was allot closer than he was.

That is also NOT the "Bad to the Bone" Predator 10K that Kale is selling right now...The "Bad to the Bone" Predator 10K looks like the Comp.10K , only with a 1 1/8" insulator...(no shrink-wrapped coil)

Yea, I'm jealous...whatever. Just give me your 800 number Weasel or email address to send my credit card info to because that little piece of ss whip laid across the top of that mast certainly is a horizontal audio amp, mud duck smashing, skip bashing, slap my mama kind-a super antenna worthy of at least $200; from my perspective. . Ohhh baby I needs me a Weasel 7000 AB...does it come in black powder coat ?

Speaking of black powder coat....back in the dim time, which was the mid '70's when CB busted out, I was living in metro Atlanta and my side of town was becoming more populated with African Americans. And so a portion of them were getting into CB just like a portion of all types of people were, and me a a few of my more drunken buddies thought of.....okay....it was my idea....to take those cheap ass Shakespeare Big Sticks and spray paint them black and call the The Black Shaft, claim that they have 9.9db gain and sell 'em to the bros for an outrageous....I mean nominal markup. This would have brought in a good bit of weed money and crap back then you could get real actual Columbian for $35 a friggin ounce and we could get beer too and head for the lake and fuck me times were good.

Where did those days go?

up in smoke

The "horizontal stinger" is a capacity hat. There is actually nothing horizontal about this antenna except for the fact that the stinger is oriented that way. This is a short, coil and cap hat loaded vertical antenna. There's nothing wrong with building a coil loaded antenna and using a cap hat set some distance above the coil if you need to make a shortened antenna. However, he could have made just one coil with a reasonable Q and it would work a lot better. That second, long skinny coil is the biggest problem with the whole design. For the cap hat, he could add multiple elements to add more capacitance if the hat was getting too large. That would have helped cut down on the size of the coil, as well.

He built one that way too...I have one out in the shed done that way, it has two horizontal stingers (or "cap-hat") and a regular single coil...The stingers are about as long as the one on the other antenna, there's just two...If you stuck the letters "N, S, E, and W" on the ends of the stingers it would make a good weather vane!:D

What he did was take one of the aluminum spacers like he uses between the coils on the Dual Coil 10K, and drilled holes in the sides for the stingers to go in...Then it would screw onto the top of the coil.

I didn't say this was a True horizontal antenna...Thats just what Kale was calling it, or a Flat-Side 10K.

All anyone has to do is cross drill your present coily style antenna at the set screw and slide your whip through and you will have to chop or lengthen it to adjust you swrs.
I'll have to dig mine out and donate it to that forum cause.
