Welcome to the forum. I would suggest you start a new thread, this way more people will see your question. When you high jack a current thread not many people will see your question.


That said, you need to understand how wattage and signal works. There is a chart that I can't find right now but it is very good. Maybe someone can post it. It's called power in perspective.

To make an improvement you must double your power to gain 1/2 an S unit to someone you talk to say 12 miles away. So unless you plan on going with 2800 plus watts your wasting time and money.

As it is now you could vary your peak wattage while you talk to locals and none of them would even notice. You can go 700 watts, then 1000, then down to 800, then up to 1400, and no one will even notice.

So to answer your question, even if you could get say 200 more watts out of your amp don't try it. You will shorten the life of the amp and no one would even realize you added 200 watts.

Now if you like to sit and gaze at your watt meter and feel good about the numbers you see then I guess do what ya gotta do.

1400 watts peak only driving it with 140 watts peak???? Not a chance, unless you are running higher volts than normal. It seems a 6 x 2879 amp would drag the PS down to 14-14.5 volts.

Just to answer your question without debating whether you should or you should not; Yes you can get more power out of it.

You claim 233.333 watts per device from a device speced at 100 watts each and you want MORE from it?? You might stroke your ego a bit more by making that meter read higher but you won't really be getting any more power out on frequency. That amp is already being overdriven into copious amounts of spurious emissions.

Why do people always want to get every last eitybity watt out of things. IMO 1400 for a 6 pill is more than I'd ever want to see. But then again I'm not made of money and cant afford to replace my equipment all the time. Heck Id be happy with a kw with that box, sure u can get more but like 9c1 said your going to be the only one that will see the difference.

Here we go. More mindles commentary from these power mongers. Any more than 720 watts out of 6 transistors and you are running garbage.

Why is it that people seem to have the knowledge to build these amplifiers but always seem to over look the specs on the devices? Want more power???? Then use more devices!

Come on guys lets show some intelligence here. put the effort and $$$ into building a cleaner amplifier.
