Actually a couple decades ago it was popular to convert CB radios over to 10m FM. The Hygain chassis radios were the rigs of choice and the radio was easier to convert to FM if it was SSB because of the varactor circuits in them. If it was AM then you had some other mods to do as well as install the varactor diodes.
