Ferrite Loopstick Crystal Radio

That's neat!

(It looks like the diode could be enhanced with an MK484 10-transistor AM radio IC. I discovered this component and just built the reference circuit with good results. I was reading about expanding the frequency response up to as high as 7 MHz.)

I still like the concept of a simple unpowered crystal set.

I've found that a genuine 1N34A diode seems to be the most sensitive, but the 1N270 is fairly close. I'm using 3 diodes in parallel.

Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
