Everything else works normally, but it will not recieve any audio, won't even move the needle unless I'm using a handheld in the same room and it then receives perfectly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you Robb. Tried multiple pieces of coax, this is only a problem with this particular project radio. I got it with a pile of radios from eBay dirt cheap. On its own, on ch6 while skip is hot, it would come in faintly on its own, but those guys on there could give you a s6 with a metal filling and no radio! With my basic knowledge, reading the schematic following the audio circuit in a service manual I have gotten to the point where I have a jumper from the center coax, and I tap into the junction of (q2 or r4) and i get most of the audio back but a little distorted.Check your coax.
Caps are probably my first shot to check, sounds like a bad cap how it will recieve my radios but none other. Thanks! I'll let ya knowMay be needing receive alignment.
Also noticed those grey capacitors, probably over 20 years old? If so - and you want to keep that radio - might consider re-capping it - if its a keeper.
Did you figure this one out?? I have a Cobra 25 classic, same exact problem!!Everything else works normally, but it will not recieve any audio, won't even move the needle unless I'm using a handheld in the same room and it then receives perfectly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
