While waiting for my call to show up in the FCC database....

You're welcome :) anytime... You might be surprised what you hear with that yagi, you've got yourself a really decent start there.. You should be able to do pretty decent with that depending on terrain of course.. We get some out of state check ins from Clinton, IA, a few from Indiana, various...

While waiting for my call to show up in the FCC database....

Depending on just how far north you are in "western" Wisconsin, you can probably get into the WX9MCS repeater system(s). Located in Rockford, Il... our 2 meter system is a VERY WIDE coverage repeater.. One of our members lives in Monroe, Wi. And has gotten into the repeater nearly full quieting...

    installing antennas at night.

While I rarely install antenna's at night. One of the techniques I like to use is after installing the antenna, don't connect it to a single thing... If possible don't even connect your coax to the antenna for about a week.. I've found after installing an antenna that neighbors want to blame...

How bad is it in your area?

Being from Rockford, IL myself I think I've got an idea of what you're talking about hahahaha... You've GOT to be talking about "leroy" and his usual drunken antics, as well as some of the rest of the guys on ch 17... There are a few good guys around, just most of them won't talk to you if they...

You know the economy is bad when...........

How bad is the current economy? I received a pre-declined credit card in the mail. CEO's are now playing miniature golf. Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen. Angelina Jolie adopted a child from America. Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore. A picture is now only worth 200...

    Handheld radio for hunting

I'll backup the Wouxun KG-UV2D, I've owned mine for just over a year and no problems.. This radio has been in use every single day.. Granted I live in flat land country (Illinois). But I can reach Rockford's main two repeaters (1 is 2 meter, the other is a 70cm) from an average of 20-30 miles...

just got my ticket and looking for a good starter ht

I'll stand behind the Wouxun HT as well, I've been using one for just about a year now and think its a great HT for the money spent... Sure there are other "better" HT's out there.. With a heftier price tag on them... I have the KG-UV2D, I really have no complaints. Other than the reverse SMA...

    New tech looking for handheld

I can say that the Puxing radio's are really good little radios, especially considering the price.. I paid about $70 for my PX-777+ and I am amazed at the quality, clarity, and range. Of course mileage varies and my experiences may not exactly be the norm, but I can talk on repeaters a good 20...
