    What about that Icom 706? Doesnt it have VHF/UHF? That would have my interest since I am in the market for a 2 meter SSB.

    Back in my CB outlaw days I regularly talked to a guy in Florida on ssb who had one of these Jo Gunn beams and was generally the loudest station.

    VHF Vertical: Why not the tallest?

    I have the Diamond x50 which is only 5'6 inches tall and it works well but I wonder if I should have opted for a taller vertical myself? Price dictated my vertical since I bought two yagis at the same time. Nothing wrong with the X50 though just never owned another to compare it too.

    Most people just stick there Imax 2000 in the air and use it for 3 or 4 yrs until it starts falling apart and then they throw it in the garbage. Why all this over analyzing?
