Got this old base station at Goodwill for $5. Powers on, haven't hooked an antenna to it yet. Manufacture date 1977.

How do I do that? It's very quiet even with the radio turned all the way up and rf gain wide open.

Now that I've fixed my Cobra 29 LX LCD and used it for a couple days, it doesn't receive anywhere near as clear and crisp as my 148 GTL. I like the way the digital screen looks and the weather radio but I put my 148 back in because it seems to be a much better radio.

Thank you all for your help. The cb now powers on and I replaced the diode. It was fun and I did the repairs along with my father and brother and we had a good time.

The format was kind of weird on my iPhone, it wouldn't show full screen and when I was trying to reply to a message it acted kind of wonky.

Hey guys, another question. Grounding this antenna. Do I need a ground wire and where? My swr on radio meter is around 1.5. It's a wilson 5/8 wave 1000w just needed something better than stock.

I was trying to think when I might have crossed wires, but now it makes sense, I do remember trying to plug it in and then having to turn it. Must be what I did.

I have a Cobra 29 LX (2011) with the digital screen and meter. It won't power on. I took it out of the truck one weekend for truck repairs then when I went to plug it back in it wouldn't power. Fuse was blown, replaced fuse and still wouldn't power, switched to my other radio with same power...
