Old Base Station

Got this old base station at Goodwill for $5. Powers on, haven't hooked an antenna to it yet. Manufacture date 1977.

When you connect the antenna, be sure it's upside down. Otherwise you'll have cross polarization and you might blow things up. No wonder that radio was such a bargain!

I don't know why the photo is upside down. The radio actually obeys the laws of gravity though, contrary to how it looks.

When it's upside down like that, does it work on the lower channels?
