Recently my base radio was acting up. It was touchy when changing channels...skipping channels and showed what I thought was a decrease in power output.
After asking locals I learned that we didn't have anybody in our area that was recommended.
Thanks to the people here at WWRF who have...
Bamm Bamm, thank you. I'd love to have that kind of space and a tower of your height to mess with.
Good luck with your situation, I'm sure you'll get it worked out.
You absolutley should be compensated, NB. By Serio and MFJ:-)
I think for my particular location, and given the horrendous amounts of electrical interference I have around me, my next antenna will be some type of 5/8's metal GP. Which do you recommend? Just kidding!!! I have no problem with...
I'm sure something I did is the problem, Marconi.
Hey, I woke up this morning to have absolutely ZERO noise on my receive...the needles on the meters weren't moving. That's extremely rare for me...I usually have 3 S-Units as my noise floor. Something was different electrically...maybe those...
Bamm Bamm,
Was the Serio mounted in the same place as the Imax? And if it was can you estimate the distance between the antenna to the RFI/TVI affected devices? How many watts were you using?
Not that I can offer any hlep to you, but I am curious.
Thanks,
Bob
Why aren't you happy with your Imax?
My Imax works well. It's a little noisier than ther M-400, but the Imax puts out a good signal. I have had no problems with the Imax other than the RFI to the neighbors -who are pretty close -and it being slightly noisy in my particular environment Which...
Thank you HR.
Funny situation I have. I was running a fiberglass antenna before (Anttron 305) and I had no issues. Since taking a break from radio my neighbors may have installed a new entertainment system at home, though.
I thought it may have been going from a 1/2 wave to the .64 of the...
Thank you, NB. I don't believe you have repeated anybody. That's an option should there still be a problem. And I don't know if the SD is problematic to the neighbors yet. I left a voice mail with them over the weekend, but they haven't called me back yet.
If worse comes to worse I will...

Those are always and option Hotrod, thank you. Raising it where it is will require guying for sure. Moving it will require a whole lot of other things.
I'm not so concerned about TVI/RFI at home as it's only affecting the second floor here. I am concerned about the intereference to my...
Thank you Marconi.
And you are correct. It was the Imax for sure. I have been testing the SD at low power and have found TVI to be an issue in my own home on the second floor only.
That SD sits on 2 -10' pipes putting it about 12' above the roof of the second floor. And the bedroom with...
I can't say that the Starduster has caused any RFI with my neighbors. I tested it at only 20 watts and it came through the TV in our bedroom upstairs. So I'm going to assume that at higher power outputs they may get some RFI, too. Or maybe the RFI falls off quickly over distance. I'd like to use...
Thank you for the clarification, Marconi.
I just checked the GP Kit I have for the Imax and see what you mean about it not being symmetrical. It's seems kinda flimsy, too. I can always throw it up with the Imax to see if it matters any. It did say in the directions that the radials should be...
That's good to hear, NB.
I like being able to make the trip at low power...it's like the challenge of light tackle fishing.
Just had a short QSO with an operator near Manchester, UK. Used the M400 and a stock HR2510 that I usually keep in the truck. Conditions were not the best, but that's...
Thank you, Hotrod.
As soon as I get the RFI issues worked out with the neighbors I will be comparing the Imax to the Starduster on transmit for local and DX. And I will happily share my findings here with everybody.
One issue I have noticed is that the Starduster completely blocks out a...
