    Aligning S-Meters on OmegaForce S-45

Hi Slim. Thanks for the information. I have no problem in what Sam told you, considering that both meters are really synchronized. I can definitely understand the digital meter having a quicker (instant) response time ("real time") being that there is no lag time for a mechanical...

    Aligning S-Meters on OmegaForce S-45

Got 'er done! Thanks! I had a hard time finding the RV101 pot because it, with RV102, were just under a bundle of wires. LOL! The schematic, though, told me that they were in that area "somewhere" so I "dug" until I got to it.

    CBC Dynamic Speech Processor

Clipping vs. Compressing First of all, thanks for the participation on this thread! In our discussion, we were comparing (mostly) the CBC-Dynamic Speech Processor (DSP) with the Telstar VoiceMax. As we may know, the DSP is a "clipping" processor and the VoiceMax a "compressing" processor...

    Aligning S-Meters on OmegaForce S-45

Thanks Rob! That's what I needed to know! My S45 is a "virgin" as far as being aligned only by the factory (no "golden screwdrivers."). Other than the discrepancy between the meters, all else seems to be working OK. Thanks for the URL as well. 73's Robbie

    Aligning S-Meters on OmegaForce S-45

Does anyone know which pot(s) to tweak in the Magnum Omegaforce S45 so as to align both the analog and digital S-meters? There's about a 2db or so discrepancy between meters on RX. Not a "big deal" but I’m sure it’s a “no brainer” if I knew what number and where they are located.

Class "C" Amps for AM, SSB?

I'm not an electronics engineer, but I can read schematics well enough (part to part) so by looking at the schematics of linear amplifiers, I am still unable to determine what class the amp is in. In theory, a Class "C" amp will not work properly (or at all, depending on the theorum) with AM...

    CBC Dynamic Speech Processor

Thanks for the advice! Which processor are you referring to? Both the CDC-DSP and the VoiceMax are on ebay. I would think the CDC-DSP. If so, it just may work as you suggested. I’ve (tentively) decided to internally install the VoiceMax in the Kenwood. With this unit, I'm sure there is...

    CBC Dynamic Speech Processor

Update for CBC Dynamic Speech Processor Lou Franklin told me via e-mail that his processor (CBC DSP) will not work on the Kenwood TS-440S. From what I gather (reading the manual), the VoiceMax Speech Processor seems to have a more "universal" and sophisticated design. Thanks to SR385 for...

    CBC Dynamic Speech Processor

Thanks all for the information and interest. I find the VoiceMax very impressive and more sophisticated as well (on "paper" anyway) too. I just don't want to go through the time, money, and trouble in trying them all out to see which one is the best. As far as my Kenwood, the modulation is...

    CBC Dynamic Speech Processor

Has anyone in the forum built and installed the CBC Dynamic Speech Processor kit? If so, what is your experience with it and what radios are you using it with? I bought the kit for the heck of it and am thinking of installing it in my Kenwood TS-440S HF rig. I just wrote the company asking...

"Hidden" Feature of the Magnum OmegaForce S45

CON 2 You're welcome. Why I like "CON 2" is because you have both "default" and "expanded" mode. When the radio is turned off then on, it will "default" to 10-meters only ("legal" mode) with all the functions. When you push "Function" and then hold down "Call" for about 3-seconds, it...

"Hidden" Feature of the Magnum OmegaForce S45

When the Magnum OmegaForce S45 radio is in the 10-Meter "default" mode (CON 1 or CON 2 jumped), pressing the "Function" button and then the "LCR" button will put the word "RPT" on the display with the Repeater Access Tone of 88.5 Hz (like other similar Magnum models such as the M-257). This...
