#24 Heathkit GD-1B grid dip repair and homebrew coils

In this video we have a look at an old Heathkit GD-1B. After a quick repair we test the unit and then build the missing coils that are needed to operate.

Nice job on the home brew coils. GDO coils can be rather fragile and probably several people out there have broken coils that need to be replaced. Oddly enough, Just yesterday I picked up a complete set of Heathkit coils in the box from an estate sale. I didn't see the GDO anywhere but I already have two of the GD-1Bs anyway with one or two broken coils.
You can find the box of coils on Ebay from time to time but may pay a premium price for them with all the competing bidders and you can not always be certain of the coil condition.
