2995dx modulation on a scope

Let me rephrase the question. Is this the correct method people are currently using the NPC mod these radios. Im looking to deadkey about 5 to 30 watts with full swing pep and good average

UPDATE
I put 250 ohms in series with a 1n4001 and ran it parallel with r292 radio is now providing good average swing and a very good adjustable dead key range.

I also removed the two resistors on pin 1 and 2 on the audio IC added the cp-1 compressor on the audio IC.
