A vertical will be fine for DX. DX signals twist and turn all around so vertical/horizontal is not critical

While it's true that DX signals flip-flop polarization (heard by fading in and out at times), a horizontal can eliminate man made noise due to it being mostly vertical polarized (ignition noise, power line insulators, etc).
