Ok just for fun I figured I would start a thread on how abused your HT is.
Here are a few Pictures of my VX-7R which I purchased when they were first released. Its been through the ringer for sure. I have lost the 6m antenna extension and the charger took a crap while I was in Iraq 2006/2007. The radio has the open band MOD and worked well while I was in Iraq. I used it to scan in VFO and had my Interpreter tell me what was being said on the radio.
It still works Great, although the weather module with Baro / Temp / Elev doesn't seem to be very accurate any more. The screen has a few scratches and as you can see the finish is in pretty tough shape, but the button labels are still visable. The bare aluminum has some oxidation on it from sitting in a damp basement after a flood.
I am still considering a new VX-8DR and even found a few used ones, but those people are NUTZ they want more for a used one that the cost of NEW. Cheapest I have seen is $379 for the DR .
Anyway Happy Memorial Day and lets see some pictures of those beat up HT's
