I am planning to build a modified t2lt vertical using a 102 in whip as "top half". I want to mount this to a 2x4 for a mast. Will securing the coax/bottom half to the board cause signal loss or tuning problems?
You'd be better off wrapping 5T around the 2x4 in a 4.25" circle just below the feed point, then adding 3-4 or more 108" wire radials at a downward angle, like guy lines, approximating a Starduster since you'll have a typically lower SWR than making a 180° dipole by placing the choke 18' down from the tip.I am planning to build a modified t2lt vertical using a 102 in whip as "top half". Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
