cobra 25 questions

a guy gave me a cobra 25 for free

i checked it and

no recieve -havent checked solder yet
channel display gone
turn channel selecter cant tell its changin channels

its not the antenna ive hooked it up to my uniden 68

can yall help me to pin point these things

Try a known working mic and double check all radio settings.

does the radio transmit. does the pa work. how do you know it changes channels if the display is out. does the receive transmit light change from green to red when you key the radio. if it trans is it on freq. have you checked the mic gain and rf gain. this is just a start.
does the s meter move in rx and tx. does the meter light work.

im getting no recieve rf is up ive checked all that the pa works the s meter doesnt move cant tell im transmitting rxtx light comes on im not really sre bout the display i turn the channel selecter but still no talk just static

See if the PA/CB switch is working to begin with.

the pa is workin i had to put a new protection diode in it does anyone know what
d17 is? ive looked it looks like its starting to burn

that is the protect diode. looks like a 1n4005 or 6. here is all the info for this radio on cbtricks.
