Well I am on my Backup rig for a while, since the IC-9100 had to make a trip back to Icom.
I hate having lousy audio so I picked up a MD-100 mic and the radio had a 2.3 filter in it. So it didnt sound bad. The next logical step was an INRAD 726 filter which gives you 2.9 Hz in SSB. Now it sounds better, but I was still looking for that wide ESSB. I did some internet searching and saw where someone modified a 500 board with a 3.8 filter. Well I called INRAD and they sold me a # 724 Filter mounted on a board for the FT-897, and it was cheaper than the 2.9 filter. Total shipped was $147. I should have it Saturday and will post my findings then.
