40 lowers and 40 uppers. Nice little radio. Can't find a whole lot of info on this one. I see it only has 3 bands and wonder what the coverage is after expansion? Anybody have one of these and if so how do they like it?

Oh the big radios will fit. It's just that no one wants to put any effort in or be creative. I drive a 2019 tractor and have a full size radio with side mic.

I have a DX99v2 in my pickup and a DX86V in my work truck. After expansion The DX86V has the standard CB 40, the 40 above, and the 40 below the standard CB band. Receive and power sound exactly the same as my 99V2. Only thing I really miss on the 86V is the +10khz switch. Only thing I miss on the 99V2 is the backlit faceplate.
Right product. Galaxy nailed it. I have a 979, but the 86 would be the choice over it today where the 99v2 won’t fit. (A KL203 won’t add enough to be worthwhile).
Just add a West Mountain Radio ClearSpeaker.
(I prefer either a 980 Uniden or a McKinley . . . but fun on 19 is still the Galaxy trump card).

Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
