I finally got around to mostly hooking up my radio. Power straight from the battery and ground from my seat bolt.

I was trying to squelch it out and with the squelch all the way down I can't get the meter to move at all, on the radio or my swr meter. If I start turning up the squelch the meter will start moving in relation to how much I turn the dial, is this normal?
I'll take some pics of the inside and try and post them.

I had it on all the way home from work which is about 25 minutes, is that long enough?

about 1 hour give or take sometimes the radio needs to settle

Cool thank you. I wasn't sure. I haven't had a CB in 20 years I just didn't know.

One other thing that I should have mentioned is that the squelch doesn't silence the noise when turned all the way down. In other words there is always static.
