What a machine, 10 toshiba 2879 transistors staged to operate as a 2 pill , 8 pill or a 2 driving 8.

Any thoughts or anecdotes on this rare bird?

I remember those, I always dreamed of owning one but it never happened. I'd drool at the photos though :ROFLMAO:

Talk about a unicorn these days.

Not the kind of watts you see out of a comp box but very versatile,. I am going to try it on my home station tomorrow, I have been testing a repaired maco 300 on the home station today.

I have only seen pictures of these, how long ago did they make them? I bet if they started making them again, they would sell quick!
Between 2007 and 2009, they were all a limited edition. I thought they all looked good but they weren't received well at that time.

I think partly because most if not all were red dots

I just brought a Competition amp from the builder. 8 pill, 1600W out with 100W drive, Totally modified Texas Star "Hot Plate." Will do over 2000W @ 16VCD, but I will never push it that hard. Just want more watts to get over the people who just key up to cause trouble.
My 139XLR doesn't have the power to drive it to 1600W so I have put together a 2 MRF455 amp as a driver. I'm tempted to use my Kenwood TS-430S, but I love my 139xlr and will use it as long as I can.

I guess I will show a little skinCP10_20240306_064612.jpgCP10_20240306_064455.jpg
I am having trouble with the relay on the 2 pill section it stays latched all the time
