ICOM 706

According to a matrix on rigpix.com

IC-706 10-160 m + WARC/6 m/2 m All-mode 100/100/10 W RX: 30 KHz-200 MHz

IC-706MKII 10-160 m + WARC/6 m/2 m All-mode 100/100/20 W RX: 30 KHz-200 MHz

IC-706MKIIG 10-160 m + WARC/6 m/2 m/70 cm All-mode 100/100/50/20 W RX: 30 KHz-200 / 400-470 MHz

I'm sure there are other differences but the bands and power are at least some obvious ones.

what is + WARC ?

WARC are the relatively newer bands, 12M and 17M.

like 385 posted the power levels for VHF/UHF were increased as the newer models were released.

One thing I know was changed (can't remember if it was in the MKII or MKIIG it got fixed) was the design of the VHF PA. If you ran the radio at full power on VHF/UHF, there was an inductor that used to overheat in the PA section, over time this actually burnt a hole right through the main PCB, a very expensive repair bill to fix. If you use VHF/UHF then go for the MKIIG if you can, or run reduced power on the earlier versions and get a small linear.

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned

Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
