Tonight I went and took my Technicians test, I told the VEC that if I passed it I wanted to take the General test. They graded the Technicians test, and then the VEC told the person who graded the test that I wanted to take the General test, the guy who graded it say with a laugh “He may as well!” The VEC brought me the General test and told me I had missed one on the Technicians test. I then took the General test, turned it in and they asked me if I wanted to take the Extra’s Test, I told them that I hadn’t studied for it but I would take it to just get an idea of what it was about. Holy Cow!! I didn’t know but maybe 6 or 8 of the questions on there! What an eye opener! Going to have to really study for that! But is not going to be for a while! Going to get my feet wet with the General license for a while first. Oh, by the way, missed 2 on the General’s test.
After I took the Extra’s test the VEC told me that out of all the years he has been a Ham and a VEC, there had only been one person that had passed the Technicians, General and Extra test in the same night.
Now to watch for my call sign! Yahoo!!
Going to set up the Gain Master on the side of the gable this weekend so I can at least get on the air! Soon as my foot get better I will move it to the center of my roof on a 34' telescopic mast (Rohn 9H50) should put the bottom of the GM about 50' off the ground and then mount a fan dipole for 80, 40 and 20 meters about 14' below the Gain Master.
A big THANKS to CDX-007 for all the help and encouragement, Thanks Scott!
