I have been away from Radio for a long time and know nothing about what is going on. I want something similar to my old Uniden HR2510.
Are there quality radios still made for 110 and 11 meter band?

Always good to see people getting into -or back into- the hobby.

Indeed there are some fine 10 / 11 m radios being made. Take a peek in the 'export radios' section of this site and you are certain to find all the information you ever wanted, some you didn't want and some that will just make you scratch your head.

IMO newer isn't always better. If you can find a 2510 /2600 / Lincoln that hasn't been hacked to shreds it might be worth buying.

The problem with a lot of older radios is one of parts availability. As I recall, the 2510 used a MRF477 in the final output and those are hard to come by these days (citation needed!)

Here are some reviews to get you started: Yeticom Optima : http://www.cbradiomagazine.com/Radio Reviews/Yeticom Optima/Yeticom Optima Overview.htm

and the Magnum 257HP http://www.cbradiomagazine.com/Radi...Echo Talkback/Magnum 257 HP Echo Talkback.htm

Happy hunting!

257

I've had a 257 HP for the last two weeks. My first time back into CB's for a quite a while. The audio is very good. The receiver is very sensitive.
The heat sink on the amp does get hot though. Thinking of mounting a DC Computer fan on it.

Happy Dx'ing
