Does anyone happen to know the value of q24 a uniden grantt xl with the mb8719 chip in it?? I'm hearing that the sound is clear but not very loud.. Could this be caused by that transistor missing or could it be something else.. If my understanding is correct, that transistor is another part of the modulation limiter, which I would like to have back in for clarity on ssb..thank you for any help...

Q24 is a 2SC945(P). This transistor limits modulation in both AM and SSB modes.

Removing R131 (10K ohms) takes Q26 (also a 2SC945(P)) out of circuit, which limits just AM modulation.

If Q24 is in place, adjust VR11, this is a variable that adjusts your ALC (SSB power).

Hope this helps!

Good info, only thing left is VR10 is the AM carrier adjustment.
