since these are power mics how are they with noise in a vehicle ? ive got a uniden 78 with a lil echo board in it and im really not satisified with the sound of the echo through my talkback spkr....even though i consistantly get compliments on its sound . the link im providing has some recordings on the sound of the mic both with and without the sound effects and i was very suprised at how clean it is with no effects at all . http://cbworldinformer.com/200110/ec_2018_xtr.htm . my current mic is a 56k .
also this mic has a noise reduction switch on top , is it effective enough to use in a mobile ?
 

cool i aqlso been thinking of this mike.my question is with it reducing noise
how much audio is lost achieving it.as i run a n/c mike already but reaLLY wanting
a mike with a little more punch.echo/talkback isnt a concern.but ive heard those
audiio clips before they sound much better than asatatic power mics
 
the guys over at http://www.cbradioforum.com/ seem to like them a lot..............but they also think rolling radios is the be all end all.... . theyre also very complimentive about it at http://grumpy.proboards11.com/index.cgi , thats why i asked about it here .
the cleanest most inexpensive/reasonably priced mic ive found is the heil handimic HM Pro ( http://www.heilsound.com/amateur/products/handimic/index.htm ) but i dont know if it can be used on a typical 4 pin cb/export mic conector .
 
They are an excellent mic. No one has trouble hearing me on it using the noise blanker at all. The mic has a volume pot inside that you can increase the volume sort of like the D-104. They also have one for the talkback volume inside. It has a studio quality sound. I remember talking to a forum member a few years ago with it and he asked me what mic it was and couldn't believe they had that kind of audio. They are expensive but are a really good mic.

I use one in my mobile and everyone is amazed that I'm talking on a UNIDEN 510 !! I have recorded it & it sounds every bit as good as any of my radios with ECHO built in . ( Connex, Sryker, Magnum ) this is a very high quality mic but, remember there is a difference between these & the knock-offs !! You get what you pay for ! The copycats are NOT as clean & clear as the RF Limited !! And the robot voice is much clearer than what comes on the Galaxy 99. JUST FOR KIX !!
 
Could be wrong, but I think that the heil mic is a condenser mic and requires "phantom power" to supply voltage to the mic circuit inside the mic. Could be a real problem because the Stryker doesn't have phantom power supplied to their mics. Could be wrong - but I think not! I know that my Magnum OmegaForce stock mic is a condenser mic powered by the radio phantom supply. Maybe that would work for you.

I know that I'm having a hard time doing it 'the other way around'. That is, I have an Icom-718 that I want to hook up a Turner+3 mic. Problems, problems, problems. Id I don't use a special capacitor to block out the phantom power to the mic, I can easily fry my radio. I finally said 'forgetabouddit' and will look for a Heil mic and do it right - plug and play. Instead, I'll just keep the Turner for my CB rigs along with the D104's.

"Phantom power" isn't a comic book super hero; it a special power supply voltage that may be found in certain radios to supply a specialized voltage to a 'condenser' type mic. Not all radios use condenser mics; phantom power is usually found in Ham radios. A Heil mic is generally a Ham radio mic; so it will be difficult to hook up a Ham radio mic to a CB. There are better mics for CB's than Ham mics. Much like the other guys have been discussing.

I don't think the handi mics require power from the mic jack, though I believe that the mics for Icom rigs take voltage from the mic jack. Mics requiring phantom power are more common in commercial/studio applications than in ham radio. Some guys are using commercial/studio mics on their ham rigs and then have to figure out how to supply the 48v that some of these mics require, that's where you've probably seen or heard that term, Rob.

Big Kahuna, you would have to find out the wiring diagram for the Stryker and have the Heil wired for it. However, Heil does sell 4 pin Ten Tec cords, but I'm not sure if Ten Tec radios and Strykers wire the same. I'm not even sure if Stryker is a 4 pin, I'm just guessing.

I would be more concerned that a Heil mic would not have enough audio to drive the Stryker. Heil microphones are pretty much all of the low gain type, and I've never had one that matched up well with a cb or an export radio. If you want clear audio on a cb or an export you're best off with the stock mic, and if you want it a little louder go with a d104 or a turner. That is the opinion I've formed...
 
when using the 2018 in the n/c mode how does the audio compare
to other n/c mics like skythumper and rk-56.i realize when switch is
off it probaly blow these mikes away.but im wondering with it on
