The wilson 1000 mag mount antenna is one awesome antenna, tunes flat stays tuned wide enough for english, been running a Philippines cobra 148f gtl (highly modded) and a 2 2879 pill amp , drove a total of 800 miles on ssb talking all over the world. Ant is up high im the middle of the truck (pickup) im going to buy a sirio 5000 for my other truck and radio, ive heard alot of good things about this antenna, the wilson 1000 is awesome has a 3000 watt handling the sirio has 1500 a concern because of the new amp going in. Good looking unit too

Alternatively you could run half the power and find that it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. I work the world quite good enough with 100W.

Doubling the power from 1500W to 3000W doesn't make a S5 signal with 1500W go up to S10 with 3000W, it makes it go to S6, maybe S7 depending on how the S meter is calibrated. Likewise going from 1500W down to 750W doesn't make a S10 signal go down to S5, just down to S8 or S9.

i use a 2 2879 pill amp all over too my radio has such good audio alot of power really isnt necessary. I have a new in the box ts 667v coming in about a week from another deal i may just sell it, my 2 pill will peak 400 cranked up but thats more than a guy really needs so i agree with ya 100%
